ihateturbos Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 I have read alot of the other posts regarding loss of power and this has happened to me. Firstly, switching the engine off temporarily cured the problem, since then it has developed. I replaced the MAF, which made no difference. within the last week there is absolutely no power, at all times and it is smoking (white smoke) quite heavily. Its not steam so I think that rules out the Head Gasket. I have aquired a Vag Com, hooked that up and it read 4 codes;1. 17978 - Contr. Module locked2. 17965 - Charge Pressure contr. positive deviation3. 16685 - Cylinder number 1 misfire4. 17948 - vehicle speed sensor high input. I reset the codes, ran the engine to temp, drove it around the block and connected the Vag Com again. This time just 16685, cyclinder misfire. I bought some diesel injector additive and ran that through. reset codes, test drove, checked Vag Com.....this time 17978 - Contr. module locked appeared on its own. All out of ideas..... I'm thinking that it is either an injector needing to be replaced or the turbo has had it. Don't have the time or money to explore all of the possibilies......does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.......not the xmas present I was hoping for! Quote
